The gaming and technology hub in Katowice is now entering the implementation phase as the largest investment in the city’s history, with a value exceeding PLN 1.2 billion. The project is being developed on the site of the former “Wieczorek” coal mine, transforming the post-industrial space into a modern centre for digital innovation, computer games, e-sports, and artificial intelligence.
For Katowice and Poland, it is a symbol of transformation – from heavy industry to an economy based on technology and creativity. For foreign investors, it is a clear signal that Poland is ready for projects of European scale.
Scale and significance of the investment
The first stage, scheduled for completion at the beginning of 2028, includes:
- revitalisation of historic mining buildings,
- construction of an underground passage, new road infrastructure, and parking facilities,
- creation of a park with themed gardens,
- preparation of space for technology and creative companies.
The project has received strong financial support – PLN 309 million from the European Funds for Silesia and €192 million in state aid approved by the European Commission.
