The development of the e-commerce market and the growing demand for fast and reliable deliveries mean that logistics investments in Poland are attracting increasing attention from foreign investors.
A perfect example is InPost, the Polish leader in automation and parcel logistics, which has announced the expansion of two strategic centres near Krakow. The project, worth over PLN 100 million, is being implemented with the support of the Polish Investment Zone (PSI), confirming the attractiveness of the Polish business ecosystem.
Logistics investments in Poland – InPost expands centres in Mnikowo and Zakrzów
InPost, known for Europe’s largest network of parcel machines, continues its dynamic expansion of its logistics infrastructure. The latest projects include the expansion of logistics centres in Mnikowo and Zakrzów – two key locations for serving the Krakow agglomeration.
New location and process automation – development of ‘Kraków 2’
The project in Mnikowo involves the creation of a new location for the ‘Kraków 2’ branch. The warehouse space will be significantly increased, and a fully automated parcel sorting system will be introduced to speed up parcel handling and optimise operational processes. Existing equipment is also being modernised, which will give the centre greater operational stability and increased efficiency.
‘Kraków 3’ in Zakrzów – advanced technologies and greater throughput
The second project involves the expansion of the “Kraków 3” branch. InPost is creating a completely new location there, increasing its storage and operational capacity. An innovative closed-loop sorting system will be implemented in the centre, which will reduce the number of errors, shorten reloading times and improve the facility’s throughput capacity – crucial at a time of growing parcel volumes.
Polish Investment Zone – an attractive incentive for growing companies
Both projects have received support from the Krakow Technology Park, which manages the Polish Investment Zone (PSI) in the Małopolska region. Thanks to the PSI, InPost will be able to benefit from income tax exemption. According to the company’s calculations, the tax preferences will bring savings of nearly PLN 41 million, which represents approximately 40% of eligible costs. This is an excellent illustration of how the Polish Investment Zone supports innovative and capital-intensive projects, increasing the country’s attractiveness on the European investment map.
InPost strengthens its leading position – benefits for the market and investors
InPost has been building a strong position in the logistics industry for years, operating not only in Poland but also in many Western European markets. The expansion of the centres near Krakow is part of the strategy of further automation and increasing process efficiency.
Key business benefits of the investment:
- Higher sorting efficiency and shorter parcel handling times.
- Increased operational capacity, responding to the growing value of the e-commerce market.
- Better utilisation of the parcel locker network, which has been an icon of Polish logistics over the last decade.
- Lower operating costs thanks to automation and process optimisation.
- Reduced carbon footprint and more sustainable operations thanks to modern technologies.
Impact on the local economy and labour market
The InPost project also brings measurable benefits to the region. The expansion of logistics centres in Mnikowo and Zakrzów will generate new jobs for:
- warehouse workers,
- logistics system operators,
- technical specialists,
- operational support staff.
For Małopolska, this means increased professional activation and strengthening the region’s position as one of the most dynamically growing logistics hubs in the country.
Logistics investments in Poland drive market growth
The expansion of InPost’s logistics centres is an example of how Polish companies are effectively exploiting the technological potential and development opportunities provided by the Polish Investment Zone. Logistics investments in Poland have stable foundations, high rates of return and growing importance in the European supply chain.
Thanks to a combination of innovation, investment preferences and a dynamically developing e-commerce market, Poland remains one of the most attractive destinations for logistics investments in Central and Eastern Europe.
